The Delta coronavirus strain is spreading more and more actively in Ukraine, the number of new cases is growing and a new wave of incidence is expected in the autumn, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko has said.

“The only way to protect yourself and your loved ones from the severe consequences of coronavirus disease, as well as to support our doctors who continue to save lives, is to get vaccinated against COVID-19,” Liashko said on Facebook on Aug. 19.

He said that the Ministry of Health understands that the summer is coming to an end, and a holiday weekend is expected ahead, which people would like to use for trips to relatives and rest.

“Therefore, if you are going on vacation, get vaccinated now, do not postpone vaccination until later. Protect yourself in time! If you were vaccinated with the first dose, do not forget to take the second one, do not postpone ‘after the holidays!’ The vaccine is enough, vaccination centers and points are working in every corner of Ukraine, even on weekends,” Liashko said.

He noted that there is “little” time left to protect oneself from the disease.

“The time to defend yourself is already short, so do not hesitate! Only together we can defeat COVID-19 and return to our usual life,” Liashko said.
