Vilnius has condemned the escalation of the conflict in Donbas and will continue to provide political support to Kyiv, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius has said.

“The situation is, in fact, back to the level of 2014, according to our opinion,” the Lithuanian foreign minister said at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian parliament on Friday, February 3.

Linkevicius also stressed the international attention to Ukraine and said Lithuania needs to make greater efforts to support Kyiv politically.

As reported, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug said the hostilities in Avdiyivka are posing a threat of humanitarian and environmental catastrophe in the region.

According to the Ukrainian National Police, since January 29, three local residents were killed and two others were wounded as a result of attacks perpetrated by pro-Russian separatists.
