President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes that Ukraine and Belarus may jointly apply for hosting the Olympic Games in the future.

“The President of Ukraine offers us to think together about whether we can even apply for hosting the Olympic Games. We can do it, two countries can,” he said, speaking at the Second Forum of Regions of Ukraine and Belarus in Zhytomyr on Friday.

Minsk recently hosted the 2nd European Games and the Match Europe v USA international track and field competition, in which Ukrainian athletes actively participated, Lukashenko said.

“We want to congratulate you on a prize-winning place in the general team competition at the European Games and the first place in track and field. I wish you had seen dozens of thousands of people welcome your athletes, our Ukrainians, and congratulated them on the victory. And Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] and I were among them. We were there, and we gave them a standing ovation. So, everything is not so bad,” he said.
