Around 300 Russian citizens are held in custody in the Ukrainian territory, Ukrainian Parliamentary Human Rights Commissioner Valeriya Lutkovska has said.

Officials in Moscow have been notified of this, she said.

Speaking on TV Channel Five, Lutkovska said she had sent a list of these individuals to her Russian counterpart Tatyana Moskalkova, suggesting that she visit her fellow countrymen to assess conditions in which they are being held.

“I’ve sent a list of over 300 Russian citizens currently held in Ukrainian jails, who might be of interest to her as the ombudsman,” Lutkovska said.

She also said she had asked to allow her to visit 12 Ukrainians in Russian custody, including journalist Roman Suschenko, film director Oleh Sentsov, and Oleksandr Kolchenko, a Crimean activist.

Lutkovska said she has not yet received a reply to this request.
