Chief of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) Yuriy Lutsenko has reported the detention of the head of the supervisory board at Vernum Bank, Natalia Ignatchenko, on suspicion of laundering the funds of a criminal organization of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

“Ignatchenko and Frolov were also detained. They are suspected of laundering, through controlled non-resident enterprises, the money received by members of an organized criminal group. Today, a preventive measure in the form of custody or Hr 1 billion bail will be selected for them,” Lutsenko wrote on his Facebook page on Jan. 31.

Vernum Bank was founded in 2009. Its sole owner through LLC Lux-Info is Natalia Ignatchenko.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, in terms of total assets as of April 1, 2017, Vernum Bank ranked 74th (Hr 360.122 million) among 90 banks operating in the country.
