Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has said Russia violated international law in terms of the ban to change the demographics of the occupied territories as 73,000 Russian citizens moved  to Crimea in 2014-2016.

“The occupants brought  more than 70,000 Russians to Ukraine, they entered the territory of occupied Crimea. It’s prohibited by international legislation,” Lutsenko told reporters in Hague on Nov. 22.

“Obviously, these people are Russians, they came to the Ukrainian territory from Russia and changed the demographic and political structure of the occupied region. It’s an attempt to keep the occupied territory under control. That’s how international law qualifies it,” Lutsenko said.

He also said that over 2,000 Ukrainian prisoners who were kept in detention facilities and prisons in Crimea were forcibly brought to Russia to serve their terms there.
