A case investigating the unlawful enrichment of MP Serhiy Leshchenko has been closed, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said.

He said that the State Fiscal Service will check other persons who lent money to the lawmaker to buy an apartment.

“Now the case about the unlawful enrichment of Mr. Leshchenko investigated by Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) is closed. The part related to Article 212 (tax evasion concerning other persons) remains,” Lutsenko told reporters on Dec. 6 in Kyiv.

He said that the request in the case will be sent to the State Fiscal Service. The agency will draw up the probe report.

“Then we will finally determine if all participants of the deal with this apartment are as clean as a whistle. Fiscal officers are checking them now,” he said.

Lutsenko said that Leshchenko borrowed money to purchase apartments not only from Ukrayinska Pravda Director Olena Prytula.

“Mr. Leshchenko mentioned Olena Prytula, but he did not mention another person. We have learnt about him or her during the investigation… We see other names. We will check if they had funds to lend the money,” he said.

He said that he annulled the decision to call Prytula to the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“Public statements of Prytula are enough for the investigator,” he said.
