Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has said that the fact that President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine had turned down his letter of resignation means that he can continue working as the prosecutor general.

When asked during an interview at Priamy TV channel whether the president’s decision to turn down his resignation means that he is to continue to work as the prosecutor general, he said, “In short, yes.”

Lutsenko said that in view of the current situation he had to submit his resignation; however, since the Verkhovna Rada gave him a kind of “a vote of confidence,” the president turned down his letter. Thus, Lutsenko stressed that he can continue as the prosecutor general.
