You're reading: Lutsenko seeks UK help in investigation of Ukraine’s top crimes

Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has discussed with the UK law enforcement agencies representatives their experience in the investigation of serious financial, economic and corruption crimes.

The press service of the Prosecutor General Office reported, Lutsenko met with representatives of the National Crime Agency and the UK Serious Fraud Office during his recent visit to the UK.

“The main purpose of these meetings was the investigation of serious financial, economic and corruption crimes networking and the discussion on the prospects of setting up joint investigation teams for the most urgent criminal proceedings,”read the press service message.

The British side expressed its readiness to provide support to the General Prosecutor Office of Ukraine on the way of reforming the prosecution authorities inUkraine and the fight against crime, including criminal proceedings against former high-ranking officials.

“Today organized crime does not pay attention to national borders, and therefore it is extremely important for our agencies to cooperate in combating transnational offenses,” Lutsenko said.
