A man has committed suicide in one of the most popular fast food chains restaurant in Kyiv, Ukraine’s National Police said on March 16.

The incident happened in a Puzata Hata restaurant near Kontraktova Ploshcha metro station at around noon local time.

Police said the 29-year-old man stabbed himself in the neck with a knife near the restaurant’s exit.

The man was at Puzata Hata in the company of a woman. They were on their way out of the restaurant when the woman went back for a credit card she had left at the restaurant. When the man was left alone, he stabbed himself.

A video published by the police includes a comment from a female witness to the incident, whose name was not given. She said that the man’s female companion and restaurant workers tried to give first aid to the man while they were waiting for the ambulance.

Although an ambulance arrived quickly, the man died at the scene.

Police are questioning witnesses and examining the restaurant.

The Kyiv Post couldn’t reach Puzata Hata management for comment.

Puzata Hata is a popular fast food restaurant chain that serves Ukrainian cuisine. It has 20 restaurants in Kyiv. According to the chain’s website, 2 million customers visit its restaurants every month.
