An unknown man killed a stranger with one punch in Kyiv on April 29.

The attacker has allegedly reproached the victim for smoking in a public place, resulting in a short quarrel and the deadly punch in the face.

The incident took place outside one of Kyiv’s McDonald’s restaurants, next to Minska metro station in the residential neighborhood Obolon in the northern part of the city. The victim, a 34-year-old man, died at the scene.

The police are now looking for the attacker, who left the scene immediately after the deadly hit. A surveillance camera video that captured the attack was circulated to help identify the suspect. If found, he might be charged with unintentional murder and face three to five years in jail.

The video shows the attacker, a tall man with dark hair, make an order at McDonald’s, then eat at the restaurant’s summer terrace and cleaning after himself. After that, the man stands next to the entrance, a coffee in his hand. After that, he seemingly enters an argument with a man standing nearby, while the restaurant’s guard is present.

The man then calmly puts his coffee down on a table, steps toward his opponent, and hits him in the face with one quick short move. The victim falls down, and the attacker picks up his coffee and walks away.

According to the police, the argument between the two man was about the victim smoking in public place, which is banned by the law, and swearing at passers-by.

The police released a surveillance camera video that shows a McDonald’s customer killing a stranger with one punch on April 29 in Kyiv. The 34-year-old victim died at the scene.

The attack evokes associations with the so-called “knockout games,” a series of the attacks in the U.S. where the attackers aim to knock out an unsuspecting stranger with a single punch. Serious injuries and even deaths have been attributed to the “knockout game.”
