Ukraine’s chief military prosecutor Anatoliy Matios has drawn attention to the statistics of suicides among servicemen performing tasks in the area of Donbas war.

“There’s very sad statistics of suicides among people who have been [in the territory of hostilities] for a long time. Last year, an average of two or three people [committed suicide] every week,” he said on the 112 Ukraine TV channel on February 20.

At the same time, Matios said: “Over 500,000 Ukrainian soldiers have gone through the war, and world statistics say that up to 80 percent of them have certain signs of a post-traumatic syndrome, which results in family problems, aggression and difficulty leading a peaceful life.”
