Kyiv’s Shevchenkivsky District court on March 10 released former deputy board chairman of national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy Oleksandr Katsuba and lifted arrest of his property, the Nashi Groshi publication has reported.

“The court approved the plea agreement between Katsuba and Deputy Prosecutor General [Yuriy] Stoliarchuk who acts as a prosecutor in the criminal case,” the publication said.

The court sentences Katsuba for one year and five months of imprisonment and considered the term of detention since June 17, 2016 in Kyiv detention center as the full service of sentence.

“Due to the full service of the sentence, Katsuba is released in the court room after the announcement of the sentence,” Nashi Groshi reported, citing the court ruling.

The publication said with the reference of the press service of Prosecutor General Katsuba signed the plea agreement with investigators, paid Hr 100 million to the national budget and gave significant evidence.

According to information of Nashi Groshi, the court ruling says that actions of Katsuba in different episodes of criminal activities caused the loss to the state in the amount of over $1 billion. Hr 100 million was compensated, and at the current exchange rate is this is around $3.5 million or 0.35 percent.
