Ukraine’s special representative in the humanitarian affairs subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group Viktor Medvedchuk considers the formula of “all for all” exchange is inefficient and noted the Ukrainian side is continuing to seek 109 people, while the exact location of 55 of them has been determined.

“In my opinion, this formula (” all for all”) is imperfect, and many populists speaking about it just do not understand what the matter is about and thus render a disservice to the exchange process … It would be appropriate to ask our politicians when we will be able to hold exchange in the “all for all” format, when our citizens will return home … The return of our citizens, military men, representatives of volunteer battalions and civilians, depends on their decision,” Medvedchuk said in an interview with the Arhumenty i Fakty (Arguments and Facts) edition.

He reported on the results of the exchange process in the past year.

“Last year we managed to return 24 people who were detained in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as three Ukrainians, who were convicted in Russia, i.e. a total of 27 people. Ukrainian authorities released 54 people. Thus, a total of 81 persons returned back to their homes, their family and relatives,” the official said.
