Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli believes Ukraine’s SBU Security Service should not exercise law enforcement functions as such, but focus on the tasks of counterintelligence and countering terrorism.

SBU should concentrate only on three main types of activity: protection of state secrets, counterintelligence activities and countering terrorism, Mingarelli said during a discussion at the fifth meeting of the parliamentary-civil platform in Kyiv on Thursday.

He added: The Security Service should cease to carry out any other law enforcement tasks or functions, especially as regards the fight against economic crime.

According to the head of the EU mission, the Ukrainian special services should not investigate such crimes
