You're reading: Minsk calls for thorough investigation of OSCE SMM car blast near Luhansk

Minsk is concerned with the incident involving the explosion of an OSCE Special Monitoring Mission’s (SMM) vehicle near Luhansk and expects a thorough investigation of it.

“We are deeply concerned by the news of the explosion of the car of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine not far from Luhansk as a result of which one SMM monitor died and two got wounded,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said on its website on April 24.

“We express our sincere condolences to the families and close ones of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to those wounded,” the ministry said.

The ministry also called for a thorough investigation of all circumstances of this tragedy and bringing those responsible to justice.

“Belarus supports the activities of the SMM which performs important functions of monitoring the implementation of Minsk Agreements and calls on to take all necessary measures in order to ensure safety of the monitors of the mission,” the ministry said.
