CHISINAU – Representatives of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia have discussed the ways to resolve the problems related to restoring the three countries’ territorial integrity at the Chisinau consultations, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Kristina Lesnik said.
The agreement was reached with Georgian Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and Ukrainian Minister for Affairs of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Vadym Chernysh to jointly settle the problems, she said at a press briefing following the meeting.
“We shared our experience in resolving similar problems, which our countries are encountering. We also discussed those challenges, which our countries are facing and which we should tackle. We realize perfectly well that these challenges are already not an internal and national problem, but regional and even international problems, which should be solved,” Lesnik said.
The sides agreed that “the problems of ordinary citizens should be prioritized, while the authorities should resolve these issues,” she said. The three countries agreed to continue talks on three issues, namely human rights, security and defense problems, and the exchange of opinions and inspections, according to the deputy prime minister.
“These problems should be discussed on this platform in the future. We agreed to introduce mechanisms for the institionalization of this tripartite platform in order to share experience, and work out new approaches to settling problems, which our countries are facing,” Lesnik said.
The deputy prime minister said that she had discussed these issues in Kyiv in September, while the three ministers will meet in Tbilisi in December.
Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia have set up the three countries’ Interparliamentary Assembly in June.
