You're reading: Moscow says Kyiv still has time to contact Russia to solve Ukrainian debt of $3 bln

Russia does not rule out the possibility of Ukraine contacting Russia in the future to solve the issue of the country’s $3 billion debt, Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak said.

“Too little time has passed, perhaps there will still [contact] us,” Storchak told journalists.

He said that the judge decided against “reflecting before Easter,” and said that until now Ukraine has yet to contact the Russian side to solve the dispute regarding the $3 billion debt.

Storchak found it difficult to respond to a question regarding whether the Ukrainian side had any readiness toward Russia’s proposals to reach a settlement on the debt.

Earlier London’s Higher Court finished hearings regarding Ukraine’s debt with Judge William Blair deciding against ruling on the matter, saying that a decision would be reached in the allotted timeframe.

Russia’s Finance Ministry said that Ukraine’s arguments in court did not bear up to scrutiny and expected a positive ruling on the Russian side’s request to speed up the case’s proceedings.
