The possible designation of Kyiv as a major non-NATO ally of the United States will destabilize the situation in Ukraine and affect regional security, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said.

“Such initiatives (…) are eroding European security and affecting regional security, including that of Ukraine,” Grushko told the press on Tuesday.

“If the United States has actually said that, this is another step toward destabilizing the situation in Ukraine and creating additional impediments to the Minsk process, which should remain the only basis for a settlement,” he said.
