Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova says she hopes that Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov’s decision to end his hunger strike at a Russian prison will stop the speculation about his health.

“I am glad that Oleh Sentsov has ended his hunger strike. Hopefully, speculation about Oleh Sentsov’s health will also end now,” Moskalkova said in a statement released by her press service.

According to Moskalkova, she has told Sentsov multiple times that “there are lots of other civilized methods of defending one’s rights.”

Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) Deputy Director Valery Maximenko said earlier on Friday that Sentsov had ended the hunger strike he began in mid-May.
