MOSCOW – The total volume of trade on which the Russian government is introducing restrictions is estimated at more than $4.3 billion, equal to almost 30 percent of the total trade between Russia and Ukraine in 2018, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin said.

“The decisions with respect to Ukraine are a forced response measure to unfriendly actions by Ukraine and are being taken on the basis of the Federal Law on Special Economic Measures and are in full compliance with Russia’s international obligations. The list of Ukrainian products that fall under the restrictions being introduced by the government were formed partly in view of the possibilities of replacing them both with domestic products and with products from other countries,” Oreshkin said, commenting on the expansion of the ban on imports from Ukraine and the restriction of exports.
