You're reading: MP Friz ready to arrange Le Pen’s visit to Ukraine, including to ATO zone

People’s deputy of Ukraine (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction), a member of the group of inter-parliamentary relations with France Iryna Friz has declared her readiness to organize a trip to the ATO zone for a presidential candidate Marine Le Pen in France, so that she personally could see the consequences of the “Russian world”.

“As for the statement of presidential candidate of France Marine Le Pen on Crimea (…) As a member of the inter-parliamentary friendship group of Ukraine-France, I am ready to organize a visit of Ms. Le Pen in Ukraine so that she could personally see the situation in the country and could pay a visit to the east in the ATO zone to see the effects of the “Russian world,” the MP wrote on her Facebook page on Wednesday.

Friz expressed belief that Le Pen is a patriot of France and she will change her rhetoric after her visit to Ukraine.

“Despite the fact that Ms. Le Pen is publicly funded and has a line of credit from Russia, I think that she lacks foreign policy experience and information in order to assess the situation in Ukraine and Russian policy in the post-Soviet space. The migration problem underlying the election program of Le Pen was established precisely because of Russian intervention in the Syrian conflict and the bombing of settlements by the Kremlin. Therefore, Le Pen, unfortunately, insufficiently understands the role of Russia in the crisis phenomena in France,” the MP said.

As reported, the presidential candidate of France Marine Le Pen allowed herself statements in support of a temporary occupation and annexation attempts of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia.

In this regard, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expressed indignation with her statement in the evening on January 3.

“Having made the statements, which completely repeat the Kremlin propaganda, the French politician demonstrates disrespect to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and fully ignores the fundamental principles of international law. In this connection, we recall that such statements, as well as the actions in violation of the Ukrainian legislation, will certainly have some consequences, as this has already taken place in the case of individual French politicians, who were forbidden from the entry to Ukraine.”

The ministry expressed hope that the French public will give the principled assessment “to such an irresponsible rhetoric by a candidate for the top post in France.”

In its turn the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) sent a letter to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to coordinate a likely ban on French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen from the entry to the country due to her statements about Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
