Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) jointly with prosecutors of the Special Anti-corruption Prosecutor (SAP) Office on Wednesday detained former director of state-run enterprise Ukrzaliznychpostach (currently the branch of public joint-stock company Ukrzaliznytsia). He is suspected of buying goods at high prices in 2015.

“According to investigators, the former head of the enterprise is suspected of organizing the purchase of metal goods at high prices and entering collusion with the supplier. A damage of over UAH 20 million was caused to Ukrzaliznychpostach,” the press service of NABU reported.

The former official is suspected of committing crime under Part 5, Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by abuse of official post committed in respect of an especially gross amount). Detectives are preparing a petition to court to impose interim measures on him.

The press service said that the investigation was started in January 2016. In July some officials of Ukrzaliznytsia and representatives of commercial structures were detained.
