You're reading: NABU says criminal case against Uglava is pressure on bureau

Opening of the criminal case against first deputy director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Gizo Uglava is pressure on the Bureau and reaction to the investigations conducted by their detectives, the NABU said.

“The opening by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine of criminal proceedings against first deputy director of NABU Gizo Uglava, pursuant to Part 2 of Article 364, Part 4 of Article 358, Part 1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is a reaction to the investigation of the NABU and an attempt of pressure on NABU. The information on the initiation of the investigation was included in the Single Register of pretrial investigations at the end of March 2017 at the initiative of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office and the Security Service of Ukraine, which the Prosecutor General’s Office obviously considers to be a priority. The investigation is carried out by a group of prosecutors of 16 people, whose work is personally supervised by Deputy Prosecutor General Yuriy Stoliarchuk,” the press service of the NABU said on May 24.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau is confident that this case is “groundless, and its investigation is absolutely hopeless.”
