Board Chairman of Naftogaz Ukrainy Andriy Kobolev last week discussed the gas market and group corporate management reforms with representatives of the council of heads of public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz’s trade unions.

Naftogaz said that the parties exchanged opinions on the ways of developing the Ukrainian gas transport complex and decided to intensify the dialog between Naftogaz and the employees of Ukrtransgaz to prevent conflicts caused by a lack of information.

In his address Kobolev said that the gas market reform is intended to retain the country’s gas independence and Ukraine’s status as the transit state.
He also explained the necessity of attracting European companies to the management of the Ukrainian gas transport system.

“Remember the recent deals on exchange of assets in the gas storage, production and transportation sphere between Gazprom and European gas companies. Remember what companies are among partners of Gazprom in Nord Stream 2 project. It is not enough to appeal to the implementation of European legislation, principles of solidarity and energy union to prevent this. Ukraine must be active and offer own solutions. In this situation the best protection of your workplaces is the attraction of a European partner,” he said.

Kobolev also said that one of Naftogaz’s demands in the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce is the transfer of right under the transit contract from Naftogaz Ukrainy to the operator of the Ukrainian gas transport system.
