You're reading: National Police to begin recruiting pilots for helicopter unit before August 2018

The National Police of Ukraine before August 2018 will announce the recruitment of police pilots for helicopter units that will support ground police groups during special operations.

According to the press service of the National Police, referring to its head Serhiy Knyazev, during 2020 the National Police of Ukraine plans to receive the first 10 helicopters of H145 model, which are used by Czech police officers in their work.

“The experience of foreign colleagues will be used in the work of the Office of Police Activity on Water and Air Support. In particular, we begin recruitment of helicopter pilots for service in a new division,” Knyazev said.

He said that the National Police plan to recruit the first police helicopter pilot in early 2020. “At the same time, we must announce a competition to fill the vacancies no later than July 2018,” the head of the National Police said.

Specialists of law enforcement agencies, including aviation units and specialized educational institutions, will be involved in the search for and training of the personnel of the helicopter crews.

According to Knyazev, in the future, professionally trained police pilots will become instructors for the training of newly arrived colleagues.

He noted that the crews of this unit would operate throughout the country – the police will daily serve the units of the patrol police, the police of the prevention, the escort police.

“The workload will be heavy. Therefore, there will be by two crews in the west, east and north of the country. The capital has the largest number of routes, that is why there should be always one or two crews in Kyiv,” the head of the National Police said.
