The National Police of Ukraine together with the Security Service of Ukraine are working to clarify the possible interrelation between the latest cases of gas spraying at schools of Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Cherkasy, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.

“It has become more frequent when children spray tear gas from pepper guns in schools. The National Police are working with the Security Service to find out whether there is a connection between these cases, or if it’s a wave. It is necessary to determine who sells these guns, how they come into the hands of these children,” the prime minister said at a government meeting on May 23.

Groysman also urged to increase the explanatory work among children in schools on the inadmissibility of such actions.

As reported, on May 22, 38 children were affected, 27 of them were hospitalized due to the spraying of unknown gas at Kharkiv’s school No. 3.

Before that, on May 21, an unknown gas was sprayed at Mykolaiv’s school No. 6, as a result of which 41 pupils were injured, and 40 of them were hospitalized.

On May 8, at about 09:00, in the territory of Cherkasy School No. 8, during the celebratory assembly devoted to the Day of Memory and Reconciliation, the schoolchildren had a bad state of health and began to lose consciousness.

Some 53 children and four teachers were hospitalized to Cherkasy Regional Children’s Hospital with a preliminary diagnosis – poisoning with an unknown substance. Some 11 children were placed in intensive care.
