Activists of the volunteer movement of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and several other nationalist organizations are holding a protest action outside the building of the Internal Ministry of Ukraine demanding resignation of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov after law enforcers searched their office and arrested their activist on May 9.

After dozens of activists approached the entrance to the ministry’s yard they were blocked by law-enforcers who pushed the protesters away for some distance, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

The protesters chanted slogans calling for Avakov’s resignation.

A few minutes later the situation at the Interior Ministry calmed down.

As reported, on May 9, law enforcement officers detained several dozen activists of the OUN volunteer movement.
According to representatives of the OUN volunteer battalion, in the morning of May 9, 30 people were in their office, after law enforcement officers stormed in, 27 of them were detained and taken away in a police wagons. After administrative violation reports were drawn up, they were let go, with the exception of Vasyl Parfenkov. Parfenkov has been put under round-the-clock house arrest.

Avakov said the law enforcers decided to enter the premises of the OUN volunteer movement after receiving information about the possible presence of weapons that could be used against the participants of the May 9 events in Kyiv.
