Ukraine’s state-run Ukroboronprom is preparing to create a training center for security and defense experts with the help of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The idea of the training center, dubbed Ukroboronprom Academy, was presented by the Ukrainian side in Kyiv on June 15 by a joint Ukraine-NATO working group, Ukroboronprom’s press service said.

“The initiative will ensure preparation of qualified specialists, who can conduct reforms of Ukraine’s military industrial complex, introduce NATO standards, improve quality and more closely integrate with NATO, as well as much, much more,” Ukroboronprom deputy head said, according to the press release.

Ukraine and NATO activated talks on cooperation in the military and defense sphere in 2014. At the start of 2015, Kyiv announced plans to join NATO’s equipment purchasing pool. Ukraine plans to modernize military production to NATO standards in 2020.
