You're reading: NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg to visit Ukraine in July

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and ambassadors of NATO member countries in Brussels will visit Ukraine on July 9-10.

“NATO constantly confirms the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in a political sense, of course. Another confirmation of this will be the visit of the North Atlantic Council by high officials […] These are all the ambassadors of the NATO countries in Brussels headed by the NATO Secretary General. The visit to Ukraine will take place on July 9-10 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of a special partnership between NATO and Ukraine,” Head of NATO Liaison Office (NLO) in Ukraine Oleksandr Vinnikov said at a briefing in Kharkiv on May 24.

He also noted the high level of Ukraine’s support from NATO, which is observed after the beginning of the Russian aggression.

“I would like to say that from the beginning of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, NATO’s support of Ukraine has reached an unprecedentedly active level. This support is both political and practical. In practical terms, the Alliance has increased its support through a number of programs – both trust funds, as well as training and capacity development programs (such as the professional development program), and through a team of advisers who are based in Kyiv and work directly with so many Ukrainian institutions. Last year all these projects were connected by one program called the “Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine.” It includes more than 40 projects in 13 regions, including a professional development program,” Vinnikov said.
