Ukrainian Joint Forces Commander Serhiy Nayev on September 17 met with OSCE SMM Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug to discuss further steps to continue the work on the restoration of facilities in Donbas, the press center of the headquarters of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) has reported.

“Joint Forces Commander [Serhiy Nayev] discussed further steps to continue the work on the restoration of important facilities, which was made possible due to the establishment of the ceasefire regime in the Donetsk and Mariupol sectors,” the statement said.

During the meeting, Nayev drew attention to the fact that the enemy, while concealing its activities in the area of Novoazovsk, Zaitseve, Verkhnioshyrokivske in the Mariupol sector, as well as in Leonove and Izvaryne, close to the state border with Russia, bans OSCE patrols from visiting the specified areas.

“Lieutenant-General Serhiy Nayev noted that since the beginning of September the enemy has increased the use of heavy weapons against the military units of the Joint Forces, but, having realized the futility of its intentions and having felt adequate responses from Ukrainian soldiers, it has significantly reduced the intensity of the use of mortars since the middle of this month,” the JFO HQ said.
