Ukrainian General Viktor Nazarov, who has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment over the crash of an Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the summer of 2014, has filed an appeal against the court’s decision.

The application of the appeal was reported by the Hromadske.ua news website.

The complaint shall be considered within a month.

As earlier reported, a hand-held rocket launcher was fired at the transport aircraft as it was landing at Luhansk airport in the early hours of June 14, 2014. There were 40 Ukrainian servicemen and nine crew members on board the plane. All of them died.

On March 27, 2017, Nazarov was found guilty and sentenced to a seven-year jail term.

“Nazarov, Viktor Mykolayovych, is found guilty and sentenced to seven years in jail,” a judge of Dnipropetrovsk region’s Pavlohrad court announced the verdict then.
