The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has called on law enforcement agencies to ensure smooth operation of bank branches in accordance with the law and to prevent a destabilization of the banking system, the central bank said on its website.

The law enforcement authorities should take note of the numerous unlawful activities of the military-political grouping called “National Corps” which has systemically been destabilizing the work of banks with a Russian state capital, blocking normal access by Ukrainians to their funds in the banks, the NBU said.

“As of next week, April 10, more actions by the National Corps are expected, in particular, a physical blocking of activities of the banking institutions with a Russian capital. Citizens are being urged to withdraw their savings from the banks. Such calls and such behavior are irresponsible, dangerous and can inflict damage on the entire banking system,” the NBU said.

These aggressively-minded radicals are no experts in banking and thus cannot give a professional assessment and determine future fate of this or other banking institution, the NBU said.
