Newly appointed Chief of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has said the life and health of AFU personnel is his main task and called for an end to “blatant showing off and reporting desired results instead of the actual state of affairs.”

“Our main task is preserving the life and health of personnel. This should be the basis for all management decisions, both in the Joint Forces Operation zone and outside of it. The most important value is the individual,” Khomchak said when being introduced to military personnel staff.

Khomchak also called for “ending micro management by AFU officials, double standards, word games, deception, window dressing and reporting desired results instead of the actual state of affairs.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy appointed Khomchak on May 22 to replace Viktor Muzhenko as AFU Commander-in-Chief. Khomchak was introduced by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak.
