The ninth rotation of Ukrainian national contingent in Congo is completed, according to a Thursday posting on the website of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine

“For more than seven months, 250 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine performed tasks under the aegis of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in DR Congo as part of a military contingent,” the ministry said.

During seven months of the ninth rotation of 18 Separate Helicopter Detachment service, almost 2,500 flights were performed, more than 2,200 hours were spent in the air, 537 tonnes of cargo and 7,336 passengers were transported, 191 tasks on fire engagement of enemy targets were carried out.

“These dry figures are a huge burden on both the flight personnel and the ground component of the contingent, but each of them is a contribution to the positive image of the country as a strong ally, an important contributor to world security, a reliable partner… In an environment with such a concentration of top-level professionals, it is extremely difficult to get renowned for a particular national contingent. However, the Ukrainians coped with this,” the ministry said.
