Ukraine’s fifth President Petro Poroshenko has not procedural status in the pretrial investigation of whether he possibly committed state treason, State Bureau of Investigations Director Roman Truba has said. An investigation into the matter was opened pursuant to a complaint filed by ex-Presidential Administration head Andriy Portnov.

“As part of the investigation of the proceedings on Poroshenko’s possible state treason, with the introduction of martial law, Poroshenko has no procedural status,” he said.

Portnov earlier filed a statement about Poroshenko’s alleged treasonous activities when martial law was imposed in November 2018. The SBI is currently investigating Portnov’s complaint.
