You're reading: Nova Poshta will abandon foam plastic in favor of recycled paper

Nova Poshta is gradually shifting its departments to work with recycled paper instead of foam plastic to fill the voids in the package.

According to the company, this will lead to the fact that parcels will be packaged and shipped about 12 percent faster, while paper saves the contents of the parcel from damage better than foam.

“We’ve analyzed the world’s best practices and selected paper produced in Ukraine. This is a cheap, reliable, easy to clean and dispose alternative to usual fillers. Like other packaging materials used by Nova Poshta, paper will be recycled,” Nova Poshta Director Oleksandr Bulba said.

The company said that paper that fills the box provides the maximum level of protection against damage, while boxes themselves, made of durable cardboard, are 10 times better than other types of packaging protect the contents of parcels.

In addition, according to the company, a paper roll takes up much less space than foam blocks, and there is no additional garbage from it.

In general, Nova Poshta has more than 20 options for packaging and fillers for different types of parcels.

As reported, Nova Poshta in January-March 2019 delivered 47 million parcels and cargoes, which is 23 percent more than in the same period of 2018.
