Russia is ready for trilateral gas talks with the European Union and Ukraine if the need arises, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Friday evening.

“We haven’t rejected trilateral talks with the EU and Ukraine. If these are necessary and expedient, then we’re ready,” Novak said.

He said Russia was prepared to consider an invitation from Vice President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic to attend a new round of trilateral talks.
