Anastasia Nozdrovska, the daughter of Iryna Nozrovska, a lawyer who was murdered near Kyiv, believes that the case on the murder of her mother should be overseen by “the people,” the Ukrainian service of the Voice of America has reported.

“It seems to me that this matter should be controlled by the people. When people pay attention to this and demand justice, then officials are afraid and solve these issues,” reads a report posted on the Voice of America’s website’s on Jan. 7.

At the same time, she said she doubted the quality of the investigation into the murder of her mother and the law enforcement system as a whole.

“My mom always fought with them, demanded justice and lawful decisions. She repeatedly sought assistance from all these investigators. My mom always fought with them, so they do not inspire confidence. And if the case did not get such public outcry, they would further be inactive,” Nozdrovska said.

As reported, lawyer Nozdrovska, who lived in the village of Demydiv in Vyshgorod district, Kyiv region, was found dead in a river on Jan. 1. A criminal case on deliberate murder was opened.

The National Police of Ukraine reported that 300 ministry employees, in particular, operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department and investigators, were involved in probing Nozdrovska’s murder.
