Over the past day, the Russia-backed separatists have fired on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces 76 times, as a result of shelling, one Ukrainian serviceman has been wounded, the press center of the Ukrainian military has reported.
In the Donetsk sector, the separatists fired the most intense shelling at Avdiyivka, Luhanske, Zaitseve and Butovka – shooting 120-mm and 82-mm caliber rounds, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns were used. In addition, Avdiyivka and the Butovka mine were fired from tanks, while Zaitseve was fired on by artillery firing 152-mm caliber rounds.
In the Luhansk sector, the separatists fired upon the Ukrainian army positions in the vicinity of Zolote, Novozvanivka and Krymske using 120 mm mortars, grenade launchers and machine guns.
In the Mariupol sector, separatists fired on Shyrokyne, Lebedynske and Krasnohorivka from 120-mm shells, grenade launchers and machine guns, Novotroyitske – from artillery of 122 mm caliber, Maryinka was fired on from the tank.
“In some cases, in order to quench the activity of the enemy, the Ukrainian military opened fire in response,” a message on the official website of the press center of the Ukrainian military headquarters says.
