The Ministry of Health of Ukraine doesn’t provide additional epidemiological safety measures at the Kyiv airports to check passengers arriving in Ukraine by direct flights from countries where coronavirus is detected. Only flights from Italy checked at Boryspil airport, no passenger health checks at Kyiv airport.

“As of 2:00 p.m. of Tuesday, a representative of the sanitary control point of the Ministry of Health meets on a mandatory basis only flights arriving from Italy,” the press service of the Boryspil airport told Interfax-Ukraine.

“There are no special scanners and thermal imagers at the airport. There is no special control from the state in connection with the coronavirus epidemic on flights from Italy or on flights from other countries. We were not sent any instructions on mandatory passenger checks,” head of the press service of the international airport Kyiv named after Sikorsky, Halyna Bohdanenko, told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to her, at the Kyiv airport, a sanitary quarantine station, which is subordinate to the Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health in air transport, is operating normally.

“This point operates normally, in accordance with all procedures and in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. Specialists of the sanitary quarantine point arrive at the aircraft’s landing site only if they receive a signal from the crew that there is a passenger on board whose health condition causes concern,” Bohdanenko explained.
