You're reading: Opposition Bloc, Vidrodzhennia against raising MPs’ wages

The Opposition Bloc party faction and the Vidrodzhennia (Revival) group in the Verkhovna Rada have prepared a draft resolution to cancel the results of voting for the resolution on conclusions and proposals to the draft law on the national budget for 2017 in paragraphs 3 and 4, which foresee an increase in MPs’ wages by several times.

“We are filing a decree on the abolition of the decisions made in paragraphs 3 and 4,” MP from the Opposition Bloc party faction Ihor Shurma said at a parliament plenary session in Kyiv.

He noted the Opposition bloc and Vidrodzhennia consider it unacceptable to increase MPs’ wages from December 1, 2016 to UAH 40,000. The MP expressed opinion “it is necessary to raise pensions for people first, and then increase wages for themselves.”

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada on October 20 with 230 votes passed the resolution on conclusions and proposals to the draft law on the national budget for 2017, by which raised wages for Ukrainian parliamentarians.
