Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák whose country is currently holding the chairmanship of the OSCE will pay a visit to Ukraine next week.

“Miroslav Lajčák has just announced he will be visiting Ukraine next week,” the Slovak Permanent Mission to the OSCE said in a tweet on Twitter.

He said during his trip he will focus “on opportunities for dialogue.”

“Should there be an opportunity to immediately improve the conditions for the people there, we must take it,” Lajčák said.

On January 10, Lajčák is giving a speech at the OSCE headquarters in Vienna to present the priorities of Slovakia’s chairmanship of the OSCE in 2019.

“Now, it is up to us to recommit to principles and commitments of the OSCE – not just in our words, but in our actions,” Lajčák said.

The foreign minister of the country that chairs the OSCE becomes the incumbent chairperson-in-office of the organization and oversees its current activities.
