The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (OSCE SMM) has stated a decrease in ceasefire violations in Donbas in the past week, an OSCE SMM representative said.

The OSCE SMM observed a reduction in level of violations with 20% decrease in the past week compared to the week before, OSCE SMM First Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug said in Kyiv on Friday.

The OSCE SMM recorded 200 blasts from heavy weapons prescribed by the Minsk Agreements, while over 600 of them were recorded the week before, he said.

The trend for a decrease in the level of violence is directly tied to a decrease in the number of civilian fatalities, Hug said. The OSCE SMM observers recorded two injuries among civilians in the past week, while there were six of them the week before that, he said.
