A program for reimbursing the cost of medicines as of December 16 had been used by more than 1.7 million patients, Ukraine’s National Health Service said on Facebook on Dec. 16.

Primary care physicians daily issue patients more than 50,000 e-prescriptions under the “Affordable Medicine” program, it said. More than 10 million e-prescriptions have been issued so far, of which 8.7 million have been reimbursed.

Some 144,000 new patients joined the program in the past month, the health service said.

As reported, since April 1, 2019, “Affordable Medicine” prescriptions have been issued in electronic form only. Only a primary care doctor with whom a patient has signed a declaration is authorized to issue a prescription.
