Over 70 percent of Ukrainians trust President Volodymyr Zelensky, as seen from a public opinion poll of 2,015 respondents aged 18 and older conducted by the Razumkov Center on October 4-9, whose findings were presented on Oct. 11.

Asked to say whom they trust from the list of politicians presented to them, 70.5 percent mentioned Zelensky, 54 percent Verkhovna Rada Chairperson Dmytro Razumkov, and 36 percent Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk.

Asked whom they mistrust, 88 percent named former Prosecutor-General Yuriy Lutsenko, 83 percent former Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy, 80 percent former President Petro Poroshenko, 78 percent Opposition Platform – For Life parliamentary faction member Nestor Shufrych, 76 percent and 68 percent Opposition Platform – For Life faction co-leaders Vadym Rabinovych and Yuriy Boiko respectively, 76 percent head of the Opposition Platform – For Life party Political Council Viktor Medvedchuk, 74 percent Batkivschyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko, 72 percent Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, and 70.5 percent former Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.

In the view of 54.5 percent of those polled, Zelensky’s actions are aimed primarily at protecting Ukraine’s national interests, while 24.5 percent said he is acting chiefly in defense of his own interests and those of his political entourage.

As many as 48 percent of the respondents said the current administration is better than the previous one, 27 percent that there is no significant difference between the two, and 8 percent preferred the previous administration.

In the view of 45 percent of the respondents, the events in the country are developing in the right direction (compared to 57 percent in September), while 29 percent believe they are developing in the wrong direction (17 percent in September).

Asked whom they trust among government and social institutions, 75 percent named the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 70 percent the president of Ukraine, 69 percent volunteer organizations, 64.5 percent the State Emergencies Service, 64 percent the National Guard, 63.5 percent the State Border Guard Service, 61 percent the church, 61 percent volunteer battalions, and 56 percent Ukrainian media.

As many as 76 percent of those polled said they mistrust Russian media outlets, 70 percent the Ukrainian judicial system on the whole, 66 percent political parties, 65 percent local courts, 64 percent commercial banks, 64 percent the prosecution system, 63 percent government officials, 59 percent the Supreme Court, 57 percent the Constitutional Court, 52 percent the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, 54 percent the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, 53 percent the National Agency for Corruption Prevention, 53 percent the High Anti-Corruption Court, 51 percent the National Bank of Ukraine, and 49 percent trade unions.
