Ukrainian parliament speaker Andriy Parubiy has signed the bill on education in Ukraine, which has recently been passed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

“Today we are launching a fundamental reform … now I am signing the law of Ukraine on education,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sept. 19. Under the law, teaching in Ukrainian schools will be conducted in the national language, “as in all European world, in all civilized countries,” he said.

“The right to get education in the native language is also given to members of national minorities and indigenous peoples, but the language of education at Ukrainian public schools will be the national one,” he said.

The document signed by the speaker will be transferred to the Presidential Administration of Ukraine on Sept. 19 for the president’s signature, he added.
