Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy intends to suggest that Verkovna Rada’s members start work at the upcoming parliamentary session with the reform of the education sector.

“I will propose starting with educational reform, because I believe that it can be the most unifying […] at the beginning of the session,” he told journalists in Kyiv on August 23.

The speaker reminded that the parliament is to consider four comprehensive reforms: medical, judicial, pension and education ones. “We will have the autumn of reforms in general,” he said.

At the same time Parubiy said that he would propose to the leaders of the parliamentary factions, members of the government to jointly determine the procedure for considering the above-mentioned reforms.

According to him, about a thousand amendments to each bill have been submitted to the bills on reforming the spheres of health care and education for the second reading. About 5,500 amendments have been made to the bill providing judicial reform.

“I think that no more than two of these reforms will be considered during the first week,” the speaker said.

At the same time, the speaker said that some bills could be sent for repeated first reading for revision.

The seventh session of the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation will begin on September 5.
