Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy admits that the draft law on the creation of the Anti-Corruption Court can be adopted already at the current plenary week.

“Tomorrow the first issue will be the formation of the agenda for this session, and there, among the issues on the agenda is the creation of the Anti-Corruption Court. And even if they do not vote for the agenda, I will separate the inclusion of the Anti-Corruption Court issue,” he said on the air of the program ‘Freedom of Speech’ on the ICTV channel.

Parubiy said that inclusion of the draft law in the agenda will give an opportunity to consider it on the profile committee.

“I will immediately instruct the profile committee to immediately consider the draft law on the Anticorruption Court, and if we receive a decision of the committee on Feb.28, we will have an opportunity to put it on a separate vote on March 1 and vote for it at the first reading,” he said.

The speaker said that the amendments would have been submitted by the second reading, there will be discussions on the recommendations of the Venice Commission. “In particular, there will be a discussion about decreasing the requirements for judges, because, based on what is being proposed now, we simply cannot recruit these judges. It is also necessary to determine the minimum number of judges necessary for the work of the court,” he said.

Parubiy believes that there are all the necessary prerequisites for the Anti-Corruption Court to be established with observance of all regulatory procedures before the beginning of May.
