Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy hopes for a final vote of the European Parliament on granting visa-free regime in the beginning of October.

“European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) has backed a report today on granting Ukraine a visa-free regime. I welcome this decision of our European partners and thank them for their consistent support of Ukraine,” Parubiy said on his Facebook page making comments on the correspondent committee’s decision.

He recalled a meeting with European Parliament President Martin Schulz, who said that “on condition of a positive decision of the profile committee, the final vote on granting a visa free regime will take place at the next session of the European Parliament in early October.”

“Therefore, I believe that a week later European MPs will support this important and familiar to every Ukrainian citizen issue,” Parubiy said.

The speaker also said after the receipt of a visa-free regime with the EU “every Ukrainian will really feel himself full free citizen of the free world.”

As reported on Monday, the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties and Home Affairs (LIBE) voted in favor of the introduction of Ukraine in the list of countries with which the EU introduces a visa-free regime.

The committee members rejected all the amendments made to the report of the European MP Mariya Gabriel (European People’s Party) from Bulgaria on the Ukrainian issue.
